Twin Capes Ferry

Premiere of Season 9 Part II – Return to the Twin Capes Ferry

Last Sunday’s episode showed the Dawgs retuning to Norfolk, VA, to salvage additional items from the decommissioned Twin Capes ferry. The “MV Twin Capes” ran the Cape May-Lewes Ferry system from 1975-2013, crossing the Delaware Bay to connect North Cape May, New Jersey, with Lewes, Delaware. This was one of the original three vessels of the 1970s fleet, christened in May 1975. She was extensively renovated between 1994 and 1996 in a $27 million project and was taken out of service and retired in October 2013.

Earlier this year, after the salvage was complete, she reached her final destination on the sea floor as part of a planned sinking for an artificial reef (click here to watch the sinking).

This episode features the curved grand staircasethe crow’s nestteak and faux brass railing panels, sconces, and MUCH more!
